Connect ViddyScribe to ChatGPT or Claude, then ask the assistant to find your videos, start audio descriptions, edit scripts, and get your files. It acts as you, with your team role and credits.

What you can do

  • Search your library and check the status of any job.
  • Create an audio description from a video link: YouTube, Vimeo, or a direct link to a video file, depending on your plan. Pick Standard AD or Extended AD, the language, and the voice.
  • Create a new description for a video already in your library, such as Extended AD or another language.
  • Read the description script, the transcript, and captions in VTT or SRT.
  • Edit descriptions in chat: reword, shorten, retime, add, or remove them. Each save is a new version, so the original is kept.
  • Change the voice, translate a finished script into another language, and render the described video.
  • Get download links for the described video and audio, and check your credit balance.
ViddyScribe does all the writing, voicing, and rendering, the same as in the app. You can’t upload a video file in chat. Give a video link, or upload the file at app.viddyscribe.com and then ask for it by name.

Requirements

  • A ViddyScribe account on the new app at app.viddyscribe.com. If your team still uses the classic ViddyScribe app, the connector does not work yet. Contact us to ask about moving your team.
  • A ChatGPT or Claude account that can add apps or connectors. Some plans and workspaces limit this.
  • To create or edit, a team role that can generate in the app: Owner, Admin, or Member. Viewers can browse and read. See Teams & Permissions.

Connect in ChatGPT

The ViddyScribe listing in ChatGPT is not live yet. Until it is, a workspace admin can add ViddyScribe as a custom app with this URL: https://mcp.viddyscribe.com/mcp. Custom apps may need developer mode turned on first.
  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings.
  2. Open Apps. Some versions call this Connectors.
  3. Find ViddyScribe and select Connect.
  4. Sign in with your ViddyScribe account.
  5. Check the list of what ChatGPT will be able to do, then select Allow access.
  6. You go back to ChatGPT. Start a new chat and ask away.
Menu names can change. If a step looks different, look for apps or connectors in settings.

Connect in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Select Add custom connector.
  3. Name it ViddyScribe and paste this URL: https://mcp.viddyscribe.com/mcp
  4. Add the connector, then select Connect next to ViddyScribe.
  5. Sign in with your ViddyScribe account.
  6. Check the list of what Claude will be able to do, then select Allow access.
  7. You go back to Claude.
If you don’t see Add custom connector, your organization’s owner may need to add it first.

What it costs

Browsing, reading, editing description text, and downloading ready files do not use credits. Creating a description, rendering a video, and translating a script use credits. For these, the assistant always shows you the price first. Nothing is spent until you say yes. A render never spends more than the price you approved. If the price goes up, the assistant asks you again. Credits come from your team’s shared balance, the same one the app uses. See Credits & Usage.

Privacy and disconnecting

The connector can only see and do what your account and team role allow. While connected, the assistant can see:
  • your library, including video names, status, scripts, transcripts, and captions
  • your team’s credit balance
  • your account email, your teams, and your role
What the assistant reads from ViddyScribe becomes part of your chat, which ChatGPT or Claude handles under its own policies. The connector keeps no copy of your videos or scripts. See our privacy policy. To disconnect, open the ChatGPT or Claude settings page where you added ViddyScribe and remove it. Your library stays in ViddyScribe.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in keeps looping or says the request expired: start again from ChatGPT or Claude, not an old browser tab. If it still loops, sign in at app.viddyscribe.com in the same browser, then connect again. If the assistant says your session expired, disconnect and reconnect.
  • “This team is still on the classic ViddyScribe app”: your team has not moved to the new app yet. Contact us about moving it. If you are on more than one team, ask the assistant to use one on the new app.
  • Not enough credits: an Owner, Admin, or Billing contact can add credits under Billing at app.viddyscribe.com. Other members should ask their team admin. Jobs that are still processing hold credits until they finish.
  • Job still running: most videos are done in minutes, but the assistant can’t message you when a job finishes. Ask it later, or check your Library at app.viddyscribe.com.
  • Download link stopped working: links expire after a few minutes. Ask the assistant for a new one.
